Garments for the Priesthood(A)

28 “Now take (B)Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister to Me as (C)priest, Aaron and Aaron’s sons: (D)Nadab, Abihu, (E)Eleazar, and Ithamar. And (F)you shall make [a]holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty. So (G)you shall speak to all who are gifted artisans, (H)whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments, to consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest. And these are the garments which they shall make: (I)a breastplate, (J)an [b]ephod, (K)a robe, (L)a skillfully woven tunic, a turban, and (M)a sash. So they shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother and his sons, that he may minister to Me as priest.

29 “So Aaron shall (A)bear the names of the sons of Israel on the breastplate of judgment over his heart, when he goes into the holy place, as a memorial before the Lord continually. 30 And (B)you shall put in the breastplate of judgment the [a]Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be over Aaron’s heart when he goes in before the Lord. So Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel over his heart before the Lord continually.

Other Priestly Garments(C)

31 (D)“You shall make the robe of the ephod all of blue. 32 There shall be an opening for his head in the middle of it; it shall have a woven binding all around its opening, like the opening in a coat of mail, so that it does not tear. 33 And upon its hem you shall make pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet, all around its hem, and bells of gold between them all around: 34 a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe all around. 35 And it shall be upon Aaron when he ministers, and its sound will be heard when he goes into the holy place before the Lord and when he comes out, that he may not die.

36 (E)“You shall also make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving of a signet:

HOLINESS TO THE LORD.

37 And you shall put it on a blue cord, that it may be on the turban; it shall be on the front of the turban. 38 So it shall be on Aaron’s forehead, that Aaron may (F)bear the iniquity of the holy things which the children of Israel hallow in all their [b]holy gifts; and it shall always be on his forehead, that they may be (G)accepted before the Lord.

39 “You shall (H)skillfully weave the tunic of fine linen thread, you shall make the turban of fine linen, and you shall make the sash of woven work.

40 (I)“For Aaron’s sons you shall make tunics, and you shall make sashes for them. And you shall make [c]hats for them, for glory and (J)beauty. 41 So you shall put them on Aaron your brother and on his sons with him. You shall (K)anoint them, (L)consecrate them, and [d]sanctify them, that they may minister to Me as priests.

Could This Be the Christ?

25 Now some of them from Jerusalem said, “Is this not He whom they seek to (A)kill? 26 But look! He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. (B)Do the rulers know indeed that this is [a]truly the Christ? 27 (C)However, we know where this Man is from; but when the Christ comes, no one knows where He is from.”

28 Then Jesus cried out, as He taught in the temple, saying, (D)“You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and (E)I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me (F)is true, (G)whom you do not know. 29 [b]But (H)I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me.”

30 Therefore (I)they sought to take Him; but (J)no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come. 31 And (K)many of the people believed in Him, and said, “When the Christ comes, will He do more signs than these which this Man has done?”

Jesus and the Religious Leaders

32 The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning Him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him. 33 Then Jesus said [c]to them, (L)“I shall be with you a little while longer, and then I (M)go to Him who sent Me. 34 You (N)will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you (O)cannot come.”

35 Then the Jews said among themselves, “Where does He intend to go that we shall not find Him? Does He intend to go to (P)the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks? 36 What is this thing that He said, ‘You will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you cannot come’?”

The Promise of the Holy Spirit

37 (Q)On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, (R)“If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 (S)He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, (T)out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 (U)But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those [d]believing in Him would receive; for the [e]Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet (V)glorified.

Who Is He?

40 Therefore [f]many from the crowd, when they heard this saying, said, “Truly this is (W)the Prophet.” 41 Others said, “This is (X)the Christ.”

But some said, “Will the Christ come out of Galilee? 42 (Y)Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, (Z)where David was?” 43 So (AA)there was a division among the people because of Him. 44 Now (AB)some of them wanted to take Him, but no one laid hands on Him.

Rejected by the Authorities

45 Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why have you not brought Him?”

46 The officers answered, (AC)“No man ever spoke like this Man!”

47 Then the Pharisees answered them, “Are you also deceived? 48 Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him? 49 But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.”

50 Nicodemus (AD)(he who came to [g]Jesus [h]by night, being one of them) said to them, 51 (AE)“Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?”

52 They answered and said to him, “Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, for (AF)no prophet [i]has arisen out of Galilee.”

The Daily Offerings(A)

38 “Now this is what you shall offer on the altar: (B)two lambs of the first year, (C)day by day continually. 39 One lamb you shall offer (D)in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer [a]at twilight. 40 With the one lamb shall be one-tenth of an ephah of flour mixed with one-fourth of a hin of pressed oil, and one-fourth of a hin of wine as a drink offering. 41 And the other lamb you shall (E)offer [b]at twilight; and you shall offer with it the grain offering and the drink offering, as in the morning, for a sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to the Lord. 42 This shall be (F)a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the Lord, (G)where I will meet you to speak with you. 43 And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle (H)shall be sanctified by My glory. 44 So I will consecrate the tabernacle of meeting and the altar. I will also (I)consecrate both Aaron and his sons to minister to Me as priests. 45 (J)I will dwell among the children of Israel and will (K)be their God. 46 And they shall know that (L)I am the Lord their God, who (M)brought them up out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them. I am the Lord their God.

The Altar of Incense(N)

30 “You shall make (O)an altar to burn incense on; you shall make it of acacia wood. A cubit shall be its length and a cubit its width—it shall be square—and two cubits shall be its height. Its horns shall be of one piece with it. And you shall overlay its top, its sides all around, and its horns with pure gold; and you shall make for it a [c]molding of gold all around. Two gold rings you shall make for it, under the molding on both its sides. You shall place them on its two sides, and they will be holders for the poles with which to bear it. You shall make the poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold. And you shall put it before the (P)veil that is before the ark of the Testimony, before the (Q)mercy seat that is over the Testimony, where I will meet with you.

“Aaron shall burn on it (R)sweet incense every morning; when (S)he tends the lamps, he shall burn incense on it. And when Aaron lights the lamps [d]at twilight, he shall burn incense on it, a perpetual incense before the Lord throughout your generations. You shall not offer (T)strange incense on it, or a burnt offering, or a grain offering; nor shall you pour a drink offering on it. 10 And (U)Aaron shall make atonement upon its horns once a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonement; once a year he shall make atonement upon it throughout your generations. It is most holy to the Lord.”

The Ransom Money

11 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 12 (V)“When you take the census of the children of Israel for their number, then every man shall give (W)a[e] ransom for himself to the Lord, when you number them, that there may be no (X)plague among them when you number them. 13 (Y)This is what everyone among those who are numbered shall give: half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary (Z)(a shekel is twenty gerahs). (AA)The half-shekel shall be an offering to the Lord. 14 Everyone included among those who are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an [f]offering to the Lord. 15 The (AB)rich shall not give more and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when you give an offering to the Lord, to make atonement for yourselves. 16 And you shall take the atonement money of the children of Israel, and (AC)shall [g]appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of meeting, that it may be (AD)a memorial for the children of Israel before the Lord, to make atonement for yourselves.”
